I was once told, “If you are coming to this country, then you need to conform to this way of life.” With an immigrant profile In Toronto Centre of 41% and 29% speaking a language other than English at home (1), I feel confident that diversity IS this way of life.

We live in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, one of the oldest democracies on Earth (2). I would like to bring this into my practice and lead with the intentions of seven generations forward.

I strive to live my life and values based on the Seven Sacred Grandfather teachings from the Anishinaabe culture: Love, Respect, Bravery, Truth, Honesty, Humility, and Wisdom. It is important for me as a natural value system to foster strong communities and live in harmony with nature. (3)

With a first career in Hospitality and Tourism, I have visited Global power and unique cities around the world, which we can learn from. Our city still has a long way to go, but we can learn from others on where and how to improve (5).

Most of my adult life consisted of working overseas, and in Toronto Centre- from retirement plans and mutual funds, to a teacher and coach, to a community worker. My latest career started with an education in Assaulted Women’s and Children’s Councilor/Advocate (6), a deeply fundamental program which had opened my eyes to the systemic laws and policies which cause oppression to the most vulnerable of our neighbours.

As a current student of Disability Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University, I am connected to the passionate youth of the community who are ready for societal changes which will make their worlds a safer and thriving place.

My vision for our city is rooted in the belief that local government should be accessible and accountable to everyone. There’s an old saying that a society is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable members. I am working to build a movement where all community members can engage in meaningful dialogue about the issues that matter most. By prioritizing issues like housing, community worker safety, disability supports, community building and small business growth, I will work tirelessly to ensure that our city thrives for for all of us, for generations to come. Together, we can make a difference and create a vibrant community that reflects our shared values and aspirations.

In conclusion, I invite you to join me on this journey towards positive change. Your voice matters, and together we can achieve great things. Let’s work hand in hand to build a future that we can all be proud of.
